Upgrading Dissolved Applications
If you do not dissolve a container and choose to run the migrated application in the container, patch or upgrade tools must run inside the container and not on the underlying operating system. This approach should work if an MSI installer is not used. If there is an MSI installer, then you should dissolve the container and try the upgrade again.
Once a container is dissolved, most applications will behave as if natively installed; patching tools and upgrade installers will therefore operate normally. Occasionally, issues may occur if an upgrade attempts to upgrade the application itself from an x86 to x64 edition. If the application supports a 32- to 64-bit in-place upgrade path, VirtaMove recommends that you test an upgrade as part of the migration process and/or contact support@virtamove.com about your specific application.
